Hunting Information
-
Fair
Chase
- Means that an animal is hunted in a sportsmanlike and lawful
manner and is not pursued or harassed with or from any mechanical means of
transportation. It also includes the reverence and respect due such fine game
animals in their taking.
The Tradition Continues
-
A few words about the guides who were
the previous holders of my Red Lake and Olga Lakes areas. I had the honor of
working for Bill Pinnell and Morris Talifson ("Last of the Great Brown Bear
Men") for 14 years.
-
- I got my start with Pinnell and Talifson in 1977, and have
always been thankful that I had the opportunity to learn from the best in the
business. They taught me a lot about what true Fair Chase Hunting really is.
Their tradition of hunting will continue through me.
-
- Location
- Kodiak Island - My guide areas on Kodiak Island are located
approximately 90 air miles southwest of Kodiak. There are no roads or
airstrips in my guide area. The only way to reach my hunting camps is by float
plane via the city of Kodiak.
Alaska Range - My camps are located on
the north slope of the Alaska Range, approximately 160 air miles north of
Anchorage.
-
-
Camps
- The semi-permanent camps will be warm, spacious wall tents
and Arctic Oven tents, or log cabins where available. Mountain tents will be
used for spiking out in remote areas, only if the size animal you desire can't
be found within easy walking distance of the main camps.
Transportation
- Kodiak Island - Transportation to my guide area is via float
plane from the city of Kodiak. I will make all arrangements for this flight.
The hunter will be responsible for paying for his own transportation round
trip from Kodiak to camp.
Alaska Range - Transportation to my camps are
via a Cessna 206 Wheel Plane from Anchorage. I will make all arrangements for
this flight. The hunter will be responsible for paying for his own
transportation round trip from Anchorage to camp.
-
-
Guides
- Each hunter will have a guide which will be assigned to him
for the duration of the hunt. My guides are trained woodsmen and professional
hunters, and are well qualified in all phases of trophy hunting, including
judging and the care of skins and meat.

- Trophy Handling
- Your trophies will receive expert preparation and care in
camp, and will be shipped to you or your specified agent, freight

Island) or up to five species of game (Alaska Range), or the dates
provided do not meet your schedule, we can arrange a

About Your Outfitter
- Scott was born in Southern Illinois in 1956. He came to
Alaska in 1977, and ever since then has been actively engaged in guiding in
Alaska. He got his start with the two well known guides and outfitters, Bill
Pinnell and Morris Talifson of Kodiak, Alaska.
Scott also has trapped
on Kodiak Island and the Alaska Range. As a trapper, he used a dog team for
transportation. Scott has a real respect for wildlife and prides himself in
true fair chase hunting, and has always been conservative in the taking of
game. He also started commercial fishing in the Cook Inlet in 1987. Scott's
life evolves around the outdoors as a guide, trapper and commercial
fisherman.
